Tonight is the night before I start my career as a teacher. Currently, I am a bundle of nerves and excitement combined. I have so much to do, so I can’t write much, but I want to be able to remember this night forever. Today I went to the school for a huge faculty meeting. The principal gave us so much information, and it was overwhelming, but I know I just need to give myself time to learn all the policies. My principal is so nice and seems like she is going to be a great leader. All the teachers I met today seem really kind and supportive. We started our day by going to mass as a faculty and it was so nice. I love that my faith is part of my job, it is very comforting. I prayed for myself and all my new co-workers that we adjust well to the new school year and that we bring out the best in our students. I actually got to meet one of my students today. After the faculty meeting, I was in the other second grade teacher’s room going over some things. A woman and her young daughter came to the door and said the mom said that they “snuck in the side door to try and get a peak at Miss. Mauro.” The other teacher said “Well, you’re looking at her.” The mother was very nice and the little girl was shy, but absolutely adorable. I can’t wait to meet my other 17 students tomorrow who are going to absolutely change my life. I will let you all know how my first day as a teacher goes!

As a catholic school girl back in my day I too loved that we celebrated mass as a community, it was very comforting and welcoming. Gave us all such a good feeling of belonging.
